Republican Presidential Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy Sparks Controversy with Conspiracy Theories at Debate
Entrepreneur and Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy made waves at Wednesday night’s debate by sharing multiple conspiratorial and controversial claims, pushing them to the forefront of the 2024 race.
Ramaswamy positioned himself as an outsider unafraid to speak the “truth” on stage, but many of his assertions on topics like Jan. 6, the 9/11 terror attacks, and demographic changes in the U.S. were baseless or debunked.
During the debate, he suggested that the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol was an “inside job,” a theory popular among far-right fringes and unsupported by evidence. He also promoted the “great replacement theory,” a white nationalist belief that immigration policies aim to diminish the political power of white Americans.
On the issue of the 9/11 attacks, Ramaswamy claimed that the government had lied about Saudi Arabia’s involvement for two decades. While some suspicions about Saudi ties to the attacks have been investigated, the 9/11 Commission report found no evidence of direct government funding.
Despite facing criticism for his controversial statements, Ramaswamy defended his remarks, stating that he wanted to spark discussions on important issues. However, experts and fact-checkers have refuted many of his claims.
As the 2024 presidential race heats up, Ramaswamy’s provocative statements have drawn attention and raised concerns about the spread of misinformation in political discourse. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
