Progressive Left: Very liberal, highly educated and majority White; most say U.S. institutions need to be completely rebuilt because of racial bias

The Progressive Left, a group characterized by their very liberal views, high level of education, and majority White demographic, are calling for a complete overhaul of U.S. institutions due to racial bias. According to a recent study, 79% of the Progressive Left identify as liberal, with 42% considering themselves very liberal. They are also highly educated, with 48% holding at least a four-year college degree.

In terms of racial attitudes, the Progressive Left stand out from other groups by acknowledging the societal advantages White people have over Black people and advocating for a complete rebuilding of U.S. institutions to ensure equal rights for all Americans regardless of race or ethnicity. They also express strong support for the Black Lives Matter movement, with 75% saying they strongly support it.

Politically, the Progressive Left are overwhelmingly Democratic, with 98% either identifying with or leaning toward the Democratic Party. They are highly engaged in politics, with 86% voting in the 2020 election and closely following government and public affairs. Despite initially supporting candidates other than Joe Biden during the Democratic primaries, they overwhelmingly voted for him in the general election and continue to support his presidency.

Overall, the Progressive Left are a politically engaged, socially conscious group that advocates for progressive policies, racial equality, and a complete overhaul of U.S. institutions to address racial bias. Their views and actions have the potential to shape the future of American politics and society.
